When we last saw our hero, she had been working on her new bodice. Everything was going swimmingly. She had actually fitted the darn thing so that it didn't wrinkle or ride up. She had laid out the boning channels so they actually worked for her figure and gave proper support to the garment. She sewed the boning channels into the interlining (a new experiment- trying not to have the boning channels show through the fashion fabric). She cut out the boning and sanded it so that it (hopefully!) wouldn't poke through the canvas. She cut off the huge seam allowances. She overlocked the edges of the interlining so it wouldn't fray. She was about to attach the fashion fabric when she noticed something horrible. She had cut the wrong. Stinkin'. Line. The line she cut along? No the seam allowance line! It was the freakin' SEWING line! Attempting to actually sew the stupid thing together would ruin the perfect fit that our hero had painstakingly obtained (literally. There were many pins and shoulders involved, as well as the accidental kicking over of her pin box. In bare feet. OW!) All is not lost- this has simply become a front lacing AND side lacing bodice. This involved ripping out of many stitches all over the place, putting in another boning channel, cutting another piece of boning and having to redo all the stitching. Otherwise the side lacing would be REALLY wibbly. HORRIBLY ANNOYING! In other news, I found I have some wire that would work as millinery wire, so I can use some leftover fabric to make a hat. OOOH! And maybe I'll finally get around to making a bonnet. So many plans...
